Experiments on photon - induced reactions for p - process nucleosynthesis ∗
Photodesintegration rates – like (γ ,n), (γ ,p), and (γ ,α) – play an important role in the nucleosynthesis of the so-called p nuclei. These proton-rich, in general very low-abundant isotopes cannot be produced by neutron capture reactions. Experiments using continuous-energy bremsstrahlung and the activation technique are perfectly suited to carry out systematic surveys on (γ ,n) reactions. In...
متن کاملColour Coherence in Photon Induced Reactions
Colour coherence in hard photoproduction is considered using the Monte Carlo event generators PYTHIA and HERWIG. Significant effects in the parton shower are found using multijet observables for direct and resolved photon induced reactions. The particle flow in the interjet region of direct processes shows a strong influence of string fragmentation effects.
متن کاملFormation time of hadrons in photon induced reactions on nuclei
We present a way to account for coherence length effects in a semi-classical transport model. This allows us to describe photoand electroproduction at large nuclei (A > 12) and high energies using a realistic coupled channel description of the final state interactions that goes far beyond simple Glauber theory. We show that the purely absorptive treatment of the final state interactions as usua...
متن کاملCross sections of deuteron induced nuclear reactions on metal targets
In the frame of a systematic study activation cross sections of a few hundred deuteron induced reactions were measured up to 50MeV on 25 metal targets having mostly natural isotopic composition. The majority of them have been measured for the first time. The recently measured data are still in the evaluation process. The experimental data were compared to the predictions of different theoretica...
متن کاملStrong correlations in actinide redox reactions.
Reduction-oxidation (redox) reactions of the redox couples An(VI)/An(V), An(V)/An(IV), and An(IV)/An(III), where An is an element in the family of early actinides (U, Np, and Pu), as well as Am(VI)/Am(V) and Am(V)/Am(III), are modeled by combining density functional theory with a generalized Anderson impurity model that accounts for the strong correlations between the 5f electrons. Diagonalizat...
